Concept:
Transformational park created on the site of former Albert Mill in Miles Platting next to Victoria Mill and the Rochdale Canal. The park helped regenerate a run down area of East Manchester with little or no facilities for the families that lived there.
The design followed extensive consultation with local residents over a 6 month period. This coincided with a new walking and cycling corridor into Manchester alongside the Rochdale Canal, now a popular commuting route into the city centre.
The park consists of a central plaza, toddler and teen play area, Multi Use Games Area, bespoke artwork and entrance feature depicting the textile industry of the site. This proved a catalyst to attract a developer to convert the former Victoria textile mill into luxury apartments.
